1908 Capitol Hill Attic Remodel

In the stately neighborhood of Capitol Hill in Seattle, a family was in desperate need of more space in their 1900’s era Victorian. The attic was a likely option as there were already signs that it had been used in an earlier era as the servants quarters (a staircase led from the basement to the attic and there was a small room walled off- most likely a former bedroom).

Sunbreak Homes was hired to convert this dark space into a comfortable living area for the family, with a hidden pull out bed, storage closets, new windows, built in bookcases, and best of all, a walk out deck to enjoy the vast views from the highest point of the house.

With four dormers built into the roof, the angles that they created on the attic ceiling were nothing short of a masterclass in trigonometry, but we were up to the challenge. As the pictures show, the space is now a treasured spot in the home and will be for years to come.
